It's finally beginning to feel like spring!  Yeah!  Here are our projects for May. 

Gate Fold Card (perfect for Dads and Grads):

We will stamp on foil with staz-on!  For the textured craft paper, we'll ink up the embossing folder, insert the craft paper and run thru the big shot.  The base card textured paper is heat embossed in white or black, then run thru the big shot with an embossing folder.  This card has plenty of textures!

Flower card:

So, it's an understatement to say I became LOST making this project.  That is a good thing!  Picture this: a mad scientist coming close to perfecting his invention...  stuff is scattered about and his hair is standing on end from static.  As someone walks into the door to his labratory, imagine the look on his face when you disturbed him.  Scarey image?  Okay, imagine me in my 'make-shift' stampin room - but I'll smile!  Wha-laa...  yup, this flower card project became that same scenario.  It started simple and grew... and grew...  You will have LOTS of choices!  I wanted to share spring flowers and colors.  The Stampin Up 2010-2012 'in colors' are going away.  They are perfect for spring flowers.  I could jabber on and on... how about I just share the photos:

The flower project looks so much better in person.  It's crazy fun to do too!  Hint: do the watercoloring 1st so it has time to dry. 

Bring an aqua painter if you have one. 

Notice the center of these big flowers is ribbon?  That is a know with the feet of the knot pulled thru a hole in the center of the flower. 

I could tell you many of the steps, but this post would be a mile long.  I look forward to seeing you this month.

PS-I'm sure you've seen the retired list of stamp sets and accessories.  Gosh, this is always a hard transition.  It's SO difficult to see everything going away.  I sorted thru my sets and accessories to bring everything to a Stampin Up Garage sale May 19th and gooolllhee, ouch!  Bad for me, great for shoppers!

Karen and Kathy must have been working together when they made these cards.  Both cards are so different and so nice!  I love them!

Look at those tiny little flowers!  There are even flowers on the envelope! 

See that pink satin ribbon?  It's SU's ribbon.  The satin is sooo silky and yummy!  She even used the ribbon behind the message.

The white floral print is embossed!  Kathy even lined the envelope with designer paper...
 

I normally wouldn't share the inside of the card ... but check out the flowers INSIDE!  Very nice Kathy!

The New Catty... it's here!

The new catalog is here!!!  OMG, it's filled with so many new stamp sets, accessories and ideas.  My wish list is quite a few pages already.  I can't wait to share the catalog with you.

A few Thank You cards

I made a few thank you cards yesterday using my favorite colors...  baja and crumb with white...  What do you think? 

 

This project started with a simple design and I took it into quite a few different directions (based on the the stamp sets conveniently sitting on my work area waiting to be cleaned!).

Girlfriends Weekend

Guess what???  We had another Girlfriends weekend. 

After a completely indulgent weekend (including a massage!) you'd think there would be more to show for all our time and work, right?

Needle and thread...

Do you know anyone that is just naturally gifted with it comes to EVERYTHING???  I know a few.  Mary stamps the most incredible pieces of art.  She quilts and has creativity coming out of her every pore! 

I'll never forget an evening right after I met her and she started stamping... I was delivering a SU order to her.  It was late at night as I pulled up to her home.  She met me outside by my car carrying a mail order catalog and a few other items.  Keep in mind, Mary just started stamping...  she was still in that 'deer in the headlights phase'...  I handed her the SU order and she mentioned she had something she wanted to share.  She opened magazine and detailed all the things she could create using SU by incorporating all these ideas into cards.  That was just ONE page folded over in the magazine!!!  If you know Mary, you know how alive and bubbly she is about our hobby.  We stood under the street light and chatted for a long time...  she was smiling from ear to ear...  I was so happy to find a friend that enjoys the same hobby...  Wow, here we are many years later and she still is going at it 100%+! 

Whew, that was a fun journey there...  Here's a card Mary made combining her two favorite hobbies. 

 

The more I look at her card, the more I find (I could list all the little steps I find, but would be embarrassed if I skipped one).  I can not imagine how long it took to make this card.

Ahhh... Cheri...

As many of you know, I have a new shoulder!  Yeah!  Look at this card Cheri gave me... how perfect is that? 

 

I love the colors, I love the lay out...  ahh, I love the little bots flowers... 

The card is so cute and fitting... I brought this into my physical therapist (for a laugh).  Somehow he thinks his mission in life is to stretch my arm straight over my head!  NOT!!!  I feel like he's trying to snap it off, just like on the stamped image.  That would be the look on my face too - I go to PT and just do what he asks, sometimes I have watery eyes, but keep a straight face... LOL!

The NEW firm foam stamp pads

Stampin Up's new2012-2013 catalog will be available June 1st.  I've had a sneak peek and love it! 

Along with many new stamp sets and accessories, SU has released a new ink pad.  They are called Firm Foam ink pads. The Firm Foam pads have better ink coverage and create a sharper/better stamped images. They come with a color name label (in four languages... maybe it's time to learn a new language in SU colors???) to attach to the end.  They will be available in all SU's colors, including the new 'In colors'.  The packaging is the same as our current stamp pads.  I love these new pads!

My Stampin Room

If you scroll WAY back, you'll find my Cali Stampin Room.  I loved that room!  I don't know if I loved it just caz it became perfect for all my SU and hobby, or if it was so special because that is where I was me.  When I had a bad day, I'd work in my room...  when we were celebrating something special, I worked in my room, I produced stuff in that room (stuff I was proud of)...  when girlfriends came over, we'd smoosh into that room and work until strange hours...  all those wine weekend invites were made there, all the Christmas cards... all those million swaps... 

 

Anyhow...

I get to make a new room!  Does that sound white?  (here is where you take a big refreshing breath)

 

If you were standing at the opening to a blank room, what would you do?  Until I decided, here is what I have done.  I continue to live out of boxes!  Carolynn and Whiskers know these boxes like a freckle on the back of your hand.  Okay, Christy, Denise and Kellie know these boxes pretty well too! 

I placed boxes and tables where I thought I'd like my permanent cabinets and work area.  That was my start.  Do you like the two cabinets?  Once was in the winery holding chemicals and pump pieces, and the other one ... well, somewhere in the garage I think.  They both are beautifully antiqued and have a glowing petina on them.  They were just something...  and now I'm friends with them.  OH, one awesome find I discovered is our DVD cabinet (the DVDs are in boxes in the garage)!!!  Guess what?  (said with a squeak of joy!)  That thing holds the clear stamps perfectly!  Ha, who would have known!!!  The cabinet was 100% full until the 'SU Retiring Stamp Set List' was relesase... now it's only 1/3 full!  Momma gave me a table cloth...  that feels like wearing the same favorite shirt every day - just a comfy fit. 

I ordered cabinets from Lowes last week.  I have a design set and am anxiously awaiting for them to be made.  I will not tell you how much they cost (other than I could have a new car!... really!) because it makes my tummy turn over a few times. 

So, with that said, are you ready?  Promise you won't feel too sorry for me?  Promise you will see this as the 'before' photo?
